01 / Buriko stone
Grains grown in hot spring waterlook like sandfish roe.

Jijo-keiseki is a hot spring deposit, a mass of grains 1.5 to 4 mm across that look like fish roe. Because it resembles the roe of the hatahata, or sailfin sandfish, locals call it Buriko-ishi. The source lies in the hills 470 m north-east of Inazumi Onsen, where three layers about 10 cm thick are held between sinter. It was made a national Natural Monument in 1924.
