01 ／ Watershed

Rain splits three ways,to Teganuma, Inbanuma and Tokyo Bay.

Kamagaya sits high on the Hokuso Plateau, and rainwater runs off in three directions: to Lake Teganuma, Lake Inbanuma and Tokyo Bay. Near a crossing in Tomioka 2-chome, the city set up a 70 cm pyramid-shaped monument.

02 ／ Hatsutomi

Hoping for rich land, the firstreclaimed field was named Hatsutomi.

In 1869, officials of the land-reclamation office stayed at a village headman's house and inspected the planned site. Their lodging signboards are city-designated cultural properties. Hosaku Inari Shrine was built in 1873.

03 ／ Great Buddha

At the north edge of the post town,a 1776 seated Shaka stands.

The Kamagaya Great Buddha is a seated statue 1.8 m high, cast in 1776 by a Kamagaya merchant for his ancestors' memorial, by a founder from Kanda in Edo. Its eye-opening feast was reportedly sung of in a rhyme.
