In 1979, farmland consolidation work uncovered the remains of a garden centered on a pond with an island; in 1987 it was designated a National Place of Scenic Beauty. The To clan, who built the manor, excelled in waka poetry, and the transmission by the ninth head, To Tsuneyori, to the linked-verse poet Sogi is known as Kokin Denju.
