Tarumaezan Shrine reveres Mount Tarumae itself as its sacred body, and its main buildings stand in Takaoka, Tomakomai. On the summit ridge, a wooden shrine was built in 1928 and replaced with a concrete hall in 1952. A mountain-opening rite is held each June and a closing rite each October.
