01 / Taro Taro Festival

The boat song may not be sungoutside the festival days.

The Taro Taro Festival at Hashimazaki Shrine is a prefecture-designated intangible folk cultural property. In the boat-owners' blessing, model boats from the shrine are rocked as they are carried around the grounds, and a boat song is sung. In the field-plowing blessing, Techo and Taro lead a five-year-old in a straw cape and hat to re-enact plowing, followed by an exchange with an ox.

02 / Uggandon no Mori

Through postwar city planning,an inner-god shrine and three big trees remained.

This is a city-designated natural monument in Nakao-cho. Uggan-saa (the inner god) of the Tomishuku family, from the domain era, is enshrined here. Postwar city planning set the plot aside as Uggandon no Mori, leaving the inner-god shrine and three big trees: a muku, an enoki and a tabu.

03 / Nakahara Drainage Ditch

After the Nakahara plateau kept crumbling,the domain built a drainage ditch itself.

This is a city-designated historic site in Nakahara, Osato. The city writes that the Shirasu plateau at Nakahara kept collapsing, harming residents' lives and the Izumi road used for the alternate-attendance journeys, so the ditch was built as a direct domain project and completed in 1852 (Kaei 5).
