Obara-juku Honjin on the Koshu Dochu stood in the residence of the Shimizu family, who served as nanushi (village headman) and toiya (post-town official). The city records it as the only surviving one of the 26 honjin in the prefecture. Though the roof is now sheet metal, the kabuto-style roof remains on the east side, showing features that reflect sericulture in the Tsukui area.

  • 4-tier kabuto-style roof
  • 13 ken wide, 7 ken deep

The Ishii Family Residence in Midori Ward was designated a national Important Cultural Property in 1971. An ink inscription of Hoei 4 (1707) on a beam above the earthen floor of the main house fixes its date of construction. The city writes that its floor plan differs from the prefecture's mainstream and seems influenced by the Gunnai region of Yamanashi Prefecture to the west.
