The whole district brings first-crop rice straw, twists it in east and west teams, and pulls the rope.

Residents of Tokashiki district turn out together and split into east and west teams. They bring rice straw from the first crop, twist it into rope, and make the great rope. The village calls it a long-held custom. It is said that a west win means a good harvest and an east win a good catch; it was held again in the summer of 2026.
