The Minoh Mountain monkey habitat became a national Natural Monument on 28 December 1956. The city writes that in 1954 university researchers first succeeded in feeding the monkeys near Ryuan-ji Temple. The feeding ground was later moved into the mountains, contact with visitors was cut, and efforts to return the monkeys to nature continue. Feeding them has been banned by ordinance since April 2010.

02 / Stone vaults

At eight points around the temple, stone platforms were set with buried images.

At the former precinct of Katsuo-ji Temple, the Hatten Ishigura are platforms of fieldstone in three tiers, about 4 m a side at the base and about 1 m high. Each held, in a jar, a bronze image of one of the four Wisdom Kings or four Heavenly Kings. Their name appears in a document of Kangi 2 (1230). The Agency for Cultural Affairs dates the milestone stones (choishi) to Hoji 1 (1247) and calls them the oldest now known.

03 / Lottery boxes

Lottery boxes, wooden tags and an awlare a prefectural folk cultural property.

Ryuan-ji Temple's lottery boxes survive as a set: three boxes, wooden tags, Goo-hoin talisman prints, an awl and more. Osaka Prefecture designated them a tangible folk cultural property on 30 March 1973, and its list gives the period as Momoyama, with a temple tradition of Tensho 3 (1575). The Minoh tourism association introduces the temple's Minoh-tomi lottery as an event that began about 400 years ago.
