An oyaji trains five or six pupils, and over 100 stone monuments to chanters' new names stand in the town's districts. It is a prefectural intangible folk cultural property and was selected by the nation in 1999.

The Nagatani terraces cover about 30 ha at 200 to 400 m on the foot of Mt. Mikusa. The prefecture says a gama is a side tunnel that draws groundwater, and that its origin is said to go back over 400 years. Steep streams were enclosed in stone and topped with soil to make fields. It was selected as a "Tsunagu Tanada Isan" (a national terrace-heritage program) in 2022.
