01 / Gōhan-shiki rite
Costumed yamabushi and gōrikipress heaped rice on the old and new stewards.

Every year on 3 January, after festival stewards are handed over at Myōken Shrine in Hokkōji, the gōhan-shiki rite has been held at the Hokkōji community hall. Yamabushi and gōriki press heaped rice on the old and new stewards and pin their necks down with a staff in blessing. It retains traces of Nikkō shugen and is said to have been held since the Enbun era (1356–61).
