01 / Ita Yusei and Yusei Deai-no-Yakata (祐生出会いの館)

He turned gifts into stencil printsand sent them back as thanks.

Ita Yusei (1889–1956), born in Nanbu, worked as a teacher while trading with people across Japan and collecting many things. He turned each gift into a mimeograph print, bound them into private books, and sent them as thanks. His works and collection total 40,000 items.

The Hosshoji Railway, a local line of 12.4 km between Yonago and Nanbu, opened in 1924. Car Deha 203, a wooden electric car built in 1922, is a prefectural protected cultural property. Its operating records were designated with it, and it is now on display at Kinaru Nanbu.

03 / Iron Buddhist Statues of Hakusan Honji (鉄造白山本地仏像)

Three halos, two statues.The third statue was in Kurayoshi.

Two cast-iron statues, of the Eleven-Headed Kannon and the Sho Kannon, have been kept at Hōnei-ji (豊寧寺) in Kasho. A recent survey showed that the Amida statue at Kisshō-in in Kurayoshi belongs to the same set. They bear an inscription dated 1320, and the prefecture records them as the only iron Buddhas confirmed so far in the Chugoku region.

Nanbu is a town in western Tottori, bordering Shimane. Its area is 114.03 square kilometers. The entire town has been selected by the Ministry of the Environment as one of its 500 important satoyama. The town bird is the broad-billed roller, its specialties are persimmons, pears, and figs, and its flower is the cherry blossom.
