The prefecture's history-travel site says the sword god is thought able to cut the wind apart, so villagers revere the shrine as a wind god that guards crops from wind damage. Its stone steps are steep, 101 in all. Villagers call it Mao-sama or Odairo-sama. At the festival on 18 April, Daidai kagura is offered, and a temple in the village holds a sutra-reading ceremony the same day.
