Koga City isthis kind of town.

  1. 01Funabaru Kofun (船原古墳), on the border of Taniyama and Oyamada in Koga, is a keyhole-shaped tomb mound of the late 6th to early 7th century, designated a National Historic Site in October 2016. In pits dug outside the mound, more than 500 items, including horse gear, armor, weapons and farm tools, had been placed; the city board of education's pamphlet says no such case had been confirmed before in the Kofun-period Japanese archipelago.
  2. 02Among the city's designated cultural properties is a gravestone inscribed with Kikō gannen (亀光元年), thought to be a private era name rather than an official one; it was unearthed at the Takagi-Maeda site in Niihara. Aoyagi-juku (青柳宿) on the Karatsu Kaido was a post town laid out in 1605 (Keicho 10), and its street lines still keep much of the old atmosphere. Ishii Tadashi, a former director of the city history museum, founded the Japan Society of Drift Studies as its first president in 2001, and his materials are in the drift exhibition room at Koga Higashi Junior High School.
