The prefecture's cultural-property guide calls it the best-preserved horse field in the prefecture. It is about 30 m wide and about 250 m long, with raised earthen seating along its sides, and a row of Ryukyu pines shades it from the sun. Before the war each village had two or three such fields, which disappeared through conversion to farmland or housing, among other causes.

  • Seating banks about 1 m high, 5-10 m wide

02 / Shimachisujinori

Called a "strange alga",it was peeled off when the well was cleaned.

The spring-fed well Amisuga in Amesoko is a growth site of Shimachisujinori, a freshwater red alga, and a prefectural Natural Monument. When a village school teacher found it in 1931, locals called it a "strange alga" and peeled it off when the well was cleaned. The prefecture notes that the spring's flow has decreased, making observation difficult.
