01 / Agena Castle Ruins

Stone walls ring both the outside and inside,a rare ring-type gusuku in the prefecture.

It is also called Great River Gusuku, after another name of the Tengan River that runs north of the castle. The hilltop inner enclosure holds the main and second baileys, and the outer enclosure lays walls from mid-slope. It is said to have been built around the 14th century by an Agena lord, but the date of construction is unclear.

02 / Bullfighting

A 1911 newspaper records over 20,000at a contest of the Agena and Kawasaki districts.

Two bulls lock horns, and the one that turns its back and flees loses. The 1911 Ryukyu Shimpo reported that over 20,000 spectators gathered at a district contest at the Agena bullring, and the city records seven bullfighting associations and six bullrings.

03 / Waitui

A farm road cut through a cliffis called Waitui, meaning "split and taken."

Its formal name is the Hidono farm road. A cliff leading to the fields of Henna district was cut through from 1932 to 1935 to open it. It is about 150 m long and up to 20 m high, and the marks of digging with hoes and stone-splitting bars are carved in its cross-section.
