Inatori's hanging doll decorations (雛のつるし飾り) are said to come from parents who, when few families could afford hina dolls, made them by hand for a child's or grandchild's first Doll Festival. They are thought to date from the late Edo period. During the festival, hina dolls line the 118 stone steps of Susanoo Shrine (素盞鳴神社).
