Fuji Speedway opened in 1966 as a racing circuit with a 4,563 m lap. It hosts the 6 Hours of Fuji in the FIA World Endurance Championship, and at the Tokyo 2020 Games it was the finish of the cycling road race and the venue of the individual time trial. The Fuji Motorsports Museum is nearby.

02 / Kintaro

Kintaro of Mount Ashigarawas born in this town.

In the story handed down in the town, Yaegiri, who came from Kyoto, gives birth to a boy in the village of Nakajima, and Kintaro grows up wrestling bears on Mount Kintoki (金時山). At Ashigara Pass he is discovered by the warrior Minamoto no Yorimitsu and, as Sakata no Kintoki, becomes one of his Four Guardians. In the early Showa era, a school ethics teachers’ guide named Oyama as his birthplace.

03 / Climbing Fuji

Two parts of the Mount Fuji World Heritage site are in the town: Fuji Sengen Shrine (冨士浅間神社), revered by pilgrims who climbed the mountain, and the Subashiri Trail, which climbs from Subashiri on the eastern foot to Kusushi, across the crater from Kengamine.
