The Buzoji Engi (武蔵寺縁起), handed down at Buzoji (武蔵寺) temple, is painted in colour on paper in five hanging scrolls. The second tells how Toramaro carved a Yakushi Nyorai statue after a dream, which began the temple; the third tells of his daughter Ruriko taken to a hot spring. Thought to date from the mid-Edo period, it is a Fukuoka Prefecture Tangible Cultural Property.

Chikushino City isthis kind of town.

  1. 01Yamae-shuku West Kamaeguchi (山家宿西構口) is a prefecturally designated historic site: a kamaeguchi (構口) was the gate wall at a post town's entrance, and here it survives on both sides of the road, earthen walls roofed with tiles atop stone walls. Of the 27 post towns in Chikuzen, traces of a kamaeguchi remain at three: Aoyagi (青柳), Koyanose (木屋瀬) and Yamae (山家).
  2. 02A signboard that Fukuoka Prefecture put up in front of the West Kamaeguchi in 1930 (Showa 5) says the relic of the gate is very rare, and the city says it was already unusual even then. In Haruda (原田), Goroyama Tumulus (五郎山古墳) is a national historic site with a wall painting of people, animals, boats and houses.
  3. 03In Okada (岡田), an ancient official road about 9 m wide was found over about 360 m, and in 2024 it became a city historic site. The gruel divination at Chikushi Shrine (筑紫神社) is a city intangible folk cultural property, and Ashiki-yama Castle Site (阿志岐山城跡), a national historic site, is on private land and cannot be visited.
