01 / Ogido Shell Midden

A shell midden contemporary with the mainland's late Jomon.Its finds were a standard reference for Southern Islands prehistory.

It lies at the foot of a cliff on a hill about 140 m high, north of Ogido hamlet, and its shell layer reaches 1.2 m at the thickest. In 1919 Tokyo Imperial University excavated it, and the pottery found was classed as the Ogido type.

02 / Kishaba Gan-ya

A gan is a vermilion-lacquered bier that carried a coffin to the grave, and in Kishaba it was used for some time after the war. Its house stands at the western edge of the hamlet, facing north, built of limestone: 3.4 m wide, 1.9 m high, 4.4 m deep.

03 / Shirube Dote-ishi

A stone carved "Kishiyahakoshi hara"was a survey marker of the Genbun land survey.

These are stones the Ryukyu court used as survey marks and boundary markers in the Genbun land survey (1737-50). The two on the grounds of the Yagibaru community hall are carved "Kishiyahakoshi hara"; the tourism association sees them as proof that Yagibaru was once part of Kishaba. One stone at Toguchi is a village historic site.
