Kinabanjo stood along the road from Shuri Castle to the Nakagami and Kunigami areas, and Commodore Perry's survey party visited in 1853. After the abolition of the domains it served as an office, and in 1946 the village office moved to Namihira. The present building was re-created in 2005 to recall its look at the time. It is a village-designated historic site.
