  1. 01Shinmei Shrine in Kuchiyama, Anabuki, stands at the tip of a hilltop ridge beside the Anabuki River, enclosed by a rectangular stone wall about 7 m north to south and about 22 m east to west. Five small shrines are set inside the wall, and the city designates it as a historic site under the name "an unusual shrine of stone walls". The date it was built is unknown in detail, and its present form dates from the early modern period or later.
  2. 02The Udatsu townscape in Wakimachi-Minamimachi, a road about 430 m long with 85 traditional buildings, was selected in 1988 as a National Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. It grew as a castle town of Waki Castle and as a gathering place for indigo. The Wakimachi Theater (Odeon-za), built in 1934, also stands in the town and is open to visitors as a playhouse with a revolving stage.
  3. 03Mima is a city in western Tokushima created in 2005 by the merger of Wakimachi, Mima, Anabuki and Koyadaira. The Yoshino River flows through it from east to west, joined by the Anabuki River, whose source is Mt. Tsurugi. About 80% of the total area is forest. The city has two JR stations, Anabuki and Oshima, and all limited express trains stop at Anabuki.
