After the great fire of Kaei 2 (1849), the head of the family, Sato Hikogoro, rebuilt it in Genji 1 (1864). The jodan-no-ma, the guest room of the highest rank it originally had, was cut off from the main house and moved elsewhere in 1893 (Meiji 26). In February 2024 a Tokyo council recommended adding it to the designation.

Hirayama Sueshige was a warrior of the East from the late Heian to early Kamakura period, and the Hirayama belonged to the Musashi Shichito. His 25th-generation descendant built the grave at Daifuku-ji, on land said to have held his mansion. Daifuku-ji was merged into Soin-ji, and the grave was moved to its present site.
