During the Keicho-era building of Nagoya Castle, stone for its walls was also carried from Mt. Iwasaki to Nagoya. Nengubashi, built of stone alone, is also called Kiyomasa Bridge from the tradition that Kato Kiyomasa ordered it built; it has been moved and reconstructed in Honda Park. The stones found are called the Harakawa dropped stones.

Komaki City isthis kind of town.

  1. 01Gomaiiwa is a rock in the grounds of Kumano Shrine on the slope of Mt. Iwasaki, split into five slabs by weathering and erosion. It is a prefectural natural monument (designated 1960); the prefecture writes that Mt. Iwasaki is a granite hill whose rock was also used in Nagoya Castle's walls
  2. 02The Shinooka ancient kiln sites, with more than 110 kilns found from the 7th to the early 12th century, are listed by the city under "other cultural properties." Oyama Haiji is a national historic site (designated 1929), and Chigo Shrine lies within it. The city writes that Nengubashi and the dropped stones show Mt. Iwasaki was a source of stone
  3. 03The city also has Mt. Komaki (national historic site, designated 1927), where Oda Nobunaga built a castle; the prefectural historic site of Utsunomiya Shrine Tumulus; the prefectural natural monument of the Okusa Mamenashi pear habitat; and the city-designated Kishida House and a city-designated mathematical tablet (sangaku) at a temple. Komaki post town was set up as the town site was relocated, a move begun in 1623 (Genna 9) and nearly complete in 1628 (Kan'ei 5)
