01 / Komainu

Some of Kasahara Shinmeigu's guardian dogsare fired clay, not stone.

Kasahara Shinmeigu has four pairs of ceramic komainu designated by the city. The 1794 pair is the work of a potter from Tsumagi; the other three were made by a Kasahara potter in the late Edo period, and one of those pairs was designated in 2024. The city notes that most ceramic komainu are earthenware, so the porcelain ones at Takiro Shinmei Shrine are rare.

The main gate of Eisenji Temple is a gabled gate with a two-bay side wall on each side and a small door in the east wall. It was rebuilt in 1843 by a master carpenter from what is now Ikeda-cho, Tajimi, known as a master builder of eastern Mino who also worked on the old meditation hall of Eihoji. No major repair has been made since, and much of the original material survives.
